Rebuilding a Community

At o2living, we strive to create a community of healthy living. Of course, this means more than simply eating right and exercising; it means wellness in all areas of life. Recently, our community was deeply affected by Hurricane Sandy. Hundreds of thousands of people were left without power;  thousands of houses and cars were ruined due to fallen trees, winds and floodwaters, and many lost their lives.

This is an important opportunity to recognize those who reached out to help others during this difficult time. It reminds us all how fragile life is and how important it is to help those in need. We tend to carry out our days without noticing how closely we are all connected. Let us use this tragedy to reflect on our personal lives and how we interact with those around us.

Saw Mill Club and Saw Mill East opened their doors to members and families ensuring they had access to showers and healthy meals during the power outages. We praise the management, owners and staff for their hospitality. My family visited the Rockaways where we once spent our summers. We saw first hand the devastation and losses of homes; many were destroyed by fires.

o2living will be a drop off location for backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils and all school supplies as many of the children returning to school lost everything. I will personally drive the supplies to a teacher's home in the Rockaways next Saturday so please be generous!

This trying time sheds light on the important aspects of our lives. We should continue to spread positivity, joy and love, and celebrate every precious moment.
