Health Benefits Of Strawberries

In this post, we are examining the health benefits of the final ingredient in the Red Radiance juice drink- the juicy strawberry.  The most popular type of fruit berry in the world, they are available all year round and there are many good reasons to include them in your diet, besides their delicious taste.  They are nutrionally exceptionally beneficial.  Here are some of the main health benefits.

Strawberries are packed with nutrients including vitamin k, vitamin a, flavonoids and dietary fiber.  One cup of strawberries contains 13% of the RDA of dietary fiber, and yet only contains 43 calories.  Dietary fiber is of great benefit to healthy digestion and also helps lower your blood pressure.  Strawberries have also a high flavonoid content.  Typically, anthocyanadins are the most prevalent flavonoid in fruit berries and strawberries are no exception.  Strawberries contain a  particular anthocyanadin called pelargonidin which gives them their striking red color.  This content helps prevent inflammation, cancer and heart disease.

Incredibly, one cup of strawberries contains 136% of the recommended daily allowance of vitamin C.  Vitamin C is known for many benefits- it lowers blood pressure, encourages a healthy immune system and inhibits development of ocular diseases such as cataracts.
